Dangerpuss: "Plutocracy Blues"

I have a sporadic music project called Dangerpuss, and this is a song I recorded with some friends.

Duane Denison (the Jesus Lizard, Tomahawk) played a few guitar flourishes.

The strings are played by the immensely talented Frank Heer (Melomane, Bingo Palace), including the electronic-sounding noise that comes in at about 4:40, a cello that Frank’s enhanced through the magic of recording technology.

I recorded this while the Moog Modular V was my new favorite thing, so that’s what’s making most of the bleeps and blips.

Wow, that sounds really good. Did you run it through one of those fancy mastering type programs?

  2. David Wm. Sims says:

Thanks. No mastering. This is exported straight from Sonar 8 to MP3.

that was pretty tight. that keyboard is worth every penny. you ever play on other people’s music? what if those people threw some money at you?

Random search for “plutocracy” and “blues” led me here. Awesome groove, right up my alley of ambient/chill — bottom sound fullness and rhythms almost reminiscent of Massive Attack, love the keyboard and cello work! I can almost imagine this played as the protesters begin winding down for the evening or rousing up in the morning! Thank you for a really cool version of “the blues”!
